Nylon strings Tapewound electric bass, as its name suggests, involves a layer of nylon wrapped around the winding metal. This produces a much darker, the warm and soft tone, and is much easier on the fingers.
The nylon sheath can go on the outside of a string encapsulated, as is the case RotoSound Tru Bass 88 and others, or a chain of gold braid, like as the Fender nylon filament braid. Naturally, the braid nylon tape version is brighter than the flatwound (For more information about flatwound strings round and visit the drone guide.)
tapewounds nylon are often considered the closest I can reach a bass sound, because there are more "hit" and suffer less. They also maintain the same character of sound for a very long time .. there is much less the "very bright and new sound of the box, with noticeably more dead time" effect of braid channels.
If you've ever heard of Abbey Road by the Beatles, Paul McCartney is using nylon ropes tapewound throughout the recording. If you've ever seen solid black lines, those are nylon [black] tapewound.
