Which is better quality: Fender guitars or USA custom guitars?
I want to get a new guitar neck, so i’m thinking about either getting an american deluxe fender neck from ebay and then having it refret with a 7.25″ radius, or getting a new neck from USA custom guitars which has the best rep for custom guitars
I heard that fender guitars arent great quality because Fender is Fender, so don’t need to worry about competition much and they have such a large reputation that they don’t need to put in the extra effort.

Fender makes a great guitar and they have for decades. Some of their lesser lines, like Starcaster, are no comparison to a true Fender. However, they do not cost as much. The lesser are not intended to be as good as a Fender, they are for folks who are willing to compromise a bit in order to get a less expensive guitar. Nevertheless, some of Fender’s lesser lines are still pretty good when compared to similar costing guitars.
Fender has always had competiton in the guitar market. One for, there is Gibson. Who, by the way, makes a pretty good guitar. However, in the past 20 years or so, there are several good guitar manufacturers. Ibanez, PRS, Washburn, BC Rich, Jackson, Kramer, Charvel, just to name a few. Fender has more competition in the current market than they did 40 years ago. Fender has to continue to put out good quality or it loses ground to the competition.
Have you played a custom neck? If not, you probably do not know if it is worth the extra bucks for you.
There are other neck options available to you that you might consider if you do not like the radius of the fender neck. Ibanez uses a different radius. I have an Ibanez neck on a Strat body on one of my guitars. The neck I really like is the Charvel neck. It has a compound radius. I put an old Charvel neck (CR290) on a Strat. It plays great.
