A question about electric guitars ?

Sorry I am totally stupid when it comes to musical insruments but I am getting my boyfriend this guitar for Christmas but do I need to buy any wires for it ? He has an amp but I don’t know if you need a wire of somekind??

If he has been playing already then he probably doesn’t need a cable. but if he is just starting you need to get an instrument cable.
