Is yamaha a good acoustic guitar?

I was looking at the acoustic starter/value packs, Costco has the Yamaha kit which includes guitar, case, extra stings, picks, electric tuner, strap and instructional DVD for $199. They have a Fender kit sells for $275 at the local music store and includes all the same but its Fender. I know they’re both not top quality but still good enough for a beginner. The Fender is the DG-8S if that makes a difference. Is it worth the extra to go Fender or does it really make a difference at that level? Thank you
I asked this earlier but in the wrong section. I am absolutely sure I want to learn the guitar, not to be a rock star, just for me. Do you think 30 is too old to start?

First of all, you are Never too old to learn to play guitar. It will ultimately sharpen your mind and give you a nice hobby. And in regards to your question about yamaha, I say go for it. When I first started playing I bought the fender starting kit you mentioned, and I STILL play that guitar… even after buying 3 others. For a beginner, I would just go for the cheapest. Both sets would have about the same quality, because of their aforementioned value.
