Comparing the Gibson Les Paul Junior to the Les Paul Junior Custom 1957?

Basically, all i want is the les paul junior, but since i’m left handed, all i can find for sale is the les paul junior custom 1957. I have the money, but I’m about to pay $1800 more just to get it lefty? So, I’m wondering if anybody knows how the 1957 is better and do you think it would be worth the money if they were both lefty? Thanks.

It’s probably a custom shop built guitar, so yes the quality is probably closer to the original vintage guitars than the other. It just means there is more care in the selection of materials and more refinement in the build. Not that the normal one is bad.

But I would expect the 57 to “feel” better, have a nicer neck and I bet the finish is better too. That can make a big difference in the whole vibe of the guitar and how it makes you feel to play it.

But they probably sound about the same.

They both have a “wrap-around” bridge. It would be possible to buy the right handed cheaper model, and have a repair tech make a new nut to accommodate the different sizes of the strings, (you can’t just switch them around). Shouldn’t be much more than $50.

Then you could order a left handed wraparound bridge from Gibson. That would do the trick.

The controls will be on the wrong side, but that didn’t bother Hendrix!

So you could switch it around for under $100 probably.

Might save you a bucket load of cash!
