Guitar tapping problems?

Hello all. I’ve recently been learning alot of songs on guitar that have tapping in them. However when i tap from one string then move down or up a string i get the sound of the previous string which totally covers up what I’m just then playing. I am not sure if it’s feedback, but possibly?

For example: I tapped 10th fret on the b string and have the 3rd fret fingered. when i move my left hand down to the g string i get the sound of the b string blaring which covers up the next notes.

I am playing on a Fender Stratocaster with an Invader bridge humbucker through an Ibanez tubescreamer pedal into my Line6 SpiderIII 150 watt amp

Tie a sock around the first fret/nut, this will dampen any strings which resonate whilst you’re tapping. Check out Jennifer Batten who used a similar technique!
