gibson tenor guitar
I have a gibson tenor (4 strings) blues guitar. I was wondering if I could play it like a bass?
The guitar is 4 stringed and I’ve always wanted to play the bass. Does anyone know if I can play bass songs on it?

Umm…it is possible but I don’t think it will sound good. First of all you would have to put on bass strings or at least super heavy gauged guitar strings…the guitar is not designed for that so it will probably have troubles holding a tune or even supporting the strings in general!!
The scale length on this guitar is relatively small compared to a normal 6-string and especially compared to a full size bass guitar….but the tenor guitar can be tuned in many different ways, mainly tuned in 5ths (like a banjo or mandolin).
So yeah you could play it like a bass if you wanted but I’m sure you will be disappointed, just go buy a cheap bass…
