Guitars and strings: SG and Ernie ball?

Do you think that an Gibson SG can work with Ernie ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom strings? There are some reviews on guitarcenter.com that say these string can sometimes break some guitars. I want these strings so I can play metal, but i wont use it unless i know it wont break a guitar. Help?

Sometimes when you got to a really heavy string, it can tweak the guitar a bit. I had my Strat set up w/ 13′s and I had it set up by a shop just so it would handle the extra tension. I usually set all my guitars w/ 10′s now and they seem to last and have had no negative effect on the guitar. I started using the DR Black Beauties and the are a great string. Best ones I’ve used. Dimebag used DR strings, there is something to be said for that.
