gibson recording bass

Any suggestions on "cracking" on the bass?
I have a couple of low age, who seemed to serve a few decades ago well, I just started to record some things, and "cracks" in both (a Westone Thunder IB0 Gibson and 3A) is quite bad. I tried a liberal spray of switch cleaner contact, but that does not do much else. Any other suggestions that "having a life." This is not the child, or any patch, and it works very well with another bass guitar. and by the way I am not all a bassist, I just play to prevent serious players.
Usually when I have this problem is that the cables / patch. Are you sure that this is not the problem? Buy a new cable and see. Other than that, check all solder connections and see if they are well and see if there is bulk copper coins.
