Neck on the Gibson Les Paul guitars vs the SG?

What is the difference in neck size/thickness of the LP Studio and the SG Faded Special? I’m pretty sure the LP has the “59″ neck, but I’m not sure. How does this compare to that of the Faded SG?

The Les Paul has a fatter neck, which means, more sustain. The SG has a thinner neck and is ALSO neck heavy and more cumbersome to play compared to the well-balanced LP neck.

The LP Studio has a neck thickness of .818 at the first fret and .963 at the 12th fret. Width at 12th fret is also 2.06 ” and at the nut end 1 11/16″
That is considered a ’59′ profile neck with a 12-inch radius.

SG faded has the same measurements as the LP Studio at the 1rst and 12th fret. The neck’s radius (flatness) is 12 inches which makes it a flatter fretboard than most Stratocasters for example. Usually , SG has the ’50′ profile neck which is “C” shaped.

The difference is that the LP is rounder (still covering a 12-inch radius) and very slightly tapered in the back. The SG is rounder but still covers a 12-inch radius
