gibson maestro amp

change pickups on gibson maestro guitar?
okay so i was thinking of changing out my pickups for a better sound.
will new (gibson, fender, ibanez), pickups help with the sound?
or will a new amp and distortion pedal help too? i really want a good distorted sound.
Seeing how you already have humbuckers changing out the pickups probably won’t help much. If your looking for a hot, overdriven sound with good usable distortion the best way to go is a small tube amp. A small tube amp , say 40 or 50 watts, combined with the humbuckers is what your looking for. You can push a smaller tube amp without getting way too loud and get a really good singing distortion sound that’s great for rock’n roll. The key is keeping the master volume down and driving the preamp. You can add a distortion pedal if you want and get that fuzzier softer distortion sound for even more options. I’ve played guitar for over forty years( all types of music) and all I’ve ever needed was my 50 watt fender tube amp. It works great with all of my guitars including strats , teles , les pauls and more.
