Who else dislikes guitar shops?

Every experience I’ve had in a guitar shop has been a bad one, today I was looking to trade in my guitars so I could afford a Gibson LP Standard and when I got there it wasn’t too busy which is unusual, but I ask for them to pull down a 3000 even Les Paul so I could try it out and I’m getting attitude from the guy, so I decided to leave, this place is usually alright but mst places it’s crowded, one cabel for 20 guys trying out guitars. There is no volume limit so everyone has it cranked, when you’re playing everyone is staring making it uncomfortable. is it just me??
I understand completely, I wouldn’t be comfortable lending off my 3000 piece of equipment, but I went in there with the most respect possible and asked politely, with clear intentions to purchase, to try out a guitar and I got attitude then he stood over me the whole time, then tried to sell me a Gibson SG Robot guitar, phh.

Music stores are run by people

there are good people,
and there are jerks

your experiences don’t sound good

but most stores I’ve worked with,
have been run very well
If I run into a poor one,
I just don’t go back

Most employees, give the same respect that they receive
if a customer comes in with an “attitude”
they probably get some back

you also have to respect the instruments
they tend to get a little nervous, when people ask to see $3000 guitars
a LOT of kids, just come in to play them, with NO intention of ever buying anything,
so they tend to be a little “gun shy”.

I have had friends that work in stores,
and they get real tired of cleaning expensive guitars,
covered with fingerprints and grease, from kids with filthy hands.
and trying to fix nicks and scraps, on expensive guitars,
messed up by kids that just “wanted to jam”
