Is there a way to tell if a Gibson Les paul is origional?

I got a Gibson Les Paul Studio given to me as a gift. My uncle bought it 2nd hand. It has the serial number stamped in the head and also “Made in USA” stamped below the numbers. I was told that origional Gibsons come with paperwork of some kind and was wondering
1st : Is that true (about papers)?
2nd: Is there a way to verify the numbers and get replacment papers?

Look inside of the guitar inside of the finger pickling bar where you can slightly crack it open between the string capture and the mountain pike. If it is original, its ALWAYS says Gibson engraved in it.
