Problems buying a Gibson Les Paul?

I want to buy a decent Gibson Les Paul guitar. I looked up the Gibson website to see what choices I have, can anybody tell me the difference between a Les Paul Custom, a Les Paul Standard and a Les Paul Traditional? Many thanks.

The les paul custom has hotter pickups, no pickup covers, the standard is a little more expensive and the pickups have covers. There is no Les Paul “traditional” but I think you might mean Studio. The studio has no frills.. no binding on the body and a thicker neck. Personally it’s a matter of choice because you can vary the sound of the guitar more with a modeling amp like a Line 6, and the pickups won’t matter that much. The biggest issue I think would be a 60′s profile neck (thinner) or the 50′s profile neck (thicker). I prefer the thinner 60′s neck. This site has some great prices on Gibsons:
