Pickups and Les Paul Question?

Im planning on buying a les paul standard soon. I’ve heard that installing EMG pickups in a les paul ruin its natural sound, so im thinking about installing the pickups from a gibson classic (498R + 500T) into it. obviously i love playing heavier music, but also enjoy many other cleaner styles. my question, should i go with the passive pickups i mentioned, or the active EMG’s? I do not want to mess this expensive instrument up, so please help!
Also, If your wondering why i dont just buy a les paul classic, its because i dont like the yellow inlays.
