Sadly, Tokai’s copy-cat guitars are very good. They basically reproduced the Sunburst from the late 50′s without permission and began selling them. Eventually, Gibson sued them for this transgression, but the Tokai versions had already gained admirers and even the subsequent victory by Gibson to have Tokai change the necks on their guitars didn’t make much difference. As a result, these guitars are quite popular and hold their value quite well. Personally, I would never buy one as the blatant patent infringement bothers the hell out of me, but to each his own.
