Gibson owners. Have you had to send a guitar to the factory for repair?

I bought a Gibson ES 6-175 in months and have found a crack between the end of the neck and the first truck. He must return to the factory for warranty repair. Should I send in the hard case comes with? Is there someone who can reassure me about the transportation of the guitar and the quality of the work of Gibson. They say it may take up to 3 months. Fortunately, I have other guitars to play so far, but wants to send a $ 4000 guitar throughout the country by UPS?
