Is this guitar for me?

I’m not exactly intermediate on Guitar because I’ve only been playing for like 2 weeks and don’t know the basics. But I can play Mississippi Queen, Welcome to the Jungle and the like. Is this the guitar for me?

It got great reviews and is reasonable compared to what I really wanted to get: Gibson Flying V

I’ve never played it, but it has 234 reviews on Musician’s Friend (which i’d recommend over Guitar Center if you’re ordering online), with average of nearly 5/5 in all categories.

The ratings, the low cost ($200), and the fact that you want a V guitar make it a pretty good beginner guitar for you. The only other decent option for an inexpensive V is Epiphone’s, but it’s considerably more ($400-500) and probably not much/any better than the Dean.

On a side-note, most guitarists recognize “intermediate” level as somebody who’s been playing 2-4 years. By anyone’s measure, 2 weeks of playing puts you solidly in the beginner category ;)

Anyhow, if you have doubts about the guitar, find a shop that carries it and sit down and play it for a couple hours. See if it’s really a good fit for you.
This is ESPECIALLY important if you’ve never played a V before. Personally I don’t like them, because it’s a pain to play while sitting down (which I do far more than standing up).

If you find you like V’s, this is almost certainly the guitar for you.
