Gibson SG Standard & SG Faded?

what visible difference is there between a Gibson SG Standard and a Gibson SG Faded?

I am happy to say that I own both of these fine instruments so I can give you an unbiased opinion. I have nothing to gain or loose by shooting it to you straight.
The Faded SG is a bare bones model – no expensive nitrocellulose finish. This is one of the main reasons the Faded is cheaper. Also the pickups in the Faded are Gibson 490R & 490T. The SG Standard comes with Gibson 490R & 498T pickups.
Not a HUGE difference, but a difference. A lot of people change the tunning keys because both model share the same crappy tuners. Then again, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it.
Also the Standard has a fancy neck binding on the frets, as the faded does not. Standard has Mother of Pearl trapezoid inlays in the neck versus a dot.
The single best thing I think you can do is go to a guitar center and play a few different ones. I know I tried about 5 different SG’s before I purchased. Some played good, while others were incredible. You’ll know when you got the one for you!

I know people bash the Faded, but personally I play it a lot more than my Standard. I have often thought about selling my Standard because of how much I enjoy the Faded.
