Why is Gibson SG standard more expensive than special ?

I own a Gibson Sg Special Ebony and i know that the standard has different inlays and different pick ups. But Some people have stated that Special is a better guitar, But why is a Standard like double the price ? thnks

Different quality of woods used (the standard is made of superiour materials) and the electronics are better. They actually have the same pickups now but alot of people think the finish of the standard is nicer – especailly in the red. Generally Gibson just put alot more time and effort into each Standard meaning most people who have compared them agree that the Standard feels nicer to play.
Of course the special is a very good quality guitar too, just the standard is higher quality.
