whats a good guitar for metal, hardcore, etc.?

i was wondering if a 1957 gibson les paul custom is a good guitar to play heavy metal, screamo, hardcore, type stuff on. thanks

It doesn’t really matter what you use. No matter what you have you can always make it sound like what you want buy the effects and the amp you run the guitar through. So i am sure you could get it to sound anyway you want. I prefer any guitar with active pickups like EMG’s.
