Why Is My Guitar Making A Crackling Static Noise?

I Have A 1989 Gibson Chet Atkins Cec,Its A Classical Guitar That Is Electric Not Acoustic. And I Use It On Choir In Church,When I Plug It In The PA System It Seems To Bee Fine,But After About An Hour Or So It Starts Crackling,And I Hear Static.Well,I Bot It Used One Year Ago And I Never Changed The Battery,Could It be That Or Something More?I Tried Switching Cables/Patch Cords And It Still Would Make This Sound After Playing It For A Hour Or So…Please Someone Comment….
I Was Just Wondering Is My Question In The Right Category

My checklist would be.
1. Instrument cable.
2. Amplifier circuitry … try another source and see if it happens with that.
3. Dirty potentiometers in the guitar … I don’t know of a way to clean them but running each from 0-10 a couple of times.
4. Battery for the active electronics.
5. Cold solder joints, broken wires in the active electronics
6. Pickups.
