Les Paul vs. SG?
If a Les Paul and an SG both are American made, Gibson, mahogany with 490 and 498 pickups, what’s the difference and what causes the prices to be so different. Is it just the neck?
You are paying for the name of the artist – Les Paul, the guitarist – and the prestige that the axe has. As far as which one is played for lead or rhythm, Angus Young of AC/DC and Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath both play SG’s and would probably have a thing or two to say about SG’s being for rhythm. For my personal preference, the SG plays a little easier for bigger hands.
