fender tube guitar amp

What type of guitar amp should I get?
I have a 69 Gibson Les Paul standard and I was wondering what amp I should get.
Should it be a tube amp or not?
I was looking at Fender Hot Rod Deluxes, and I think that would be a good choice, but my dad thinks I’d be better off with a transistor amp.
Those are just two ideas, maybe you have some other recommendations. Thanks!
If you own a proper Gibson Les Paul Standard you’d be doing the sound a favour by using a tube amp. If you want cleans sounds then it will produce glistening cleans, the only thing is if you want overdriven sounds all the time then you’re going to need a power break or a THD hot plate to reduce the volume.
Transister amps are more practical, obviously…you don’t have to wait for them to heat up, theres no tubes to wear out, they’re alot (!) lighter. Bare in mind my 2×10 tube combo weighs more than my housemate…
Whatever you go for pick something which complements the sound you want to get out of it. Go to a shop with loads of amp and just play away!
(for note my current amp of choice is the peavey valve king combo – i was on a budget and this amp stood out and was the same price as a simular transistor amp. the clean sound is really really good and the od channel isn’t bad – not very high gain but good none the less)
