How I can get a classic blues / rock tone?

I am currently using a Peavey Classic 50 (2X12) amplifier, a Fender '73 Fender Start or begin a 95 (both with Texas Special pickups), a Danelectro overdrive (used as a clean boost) and a Boss Blues Driver (BD-2). I'm looking for a tone perhaps as Robert Cray, John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughan or Eric Clapton. Actually only a dime all the knobs (which in turn at full volume), because it is too safe places for play. If any of you have one of these amps, I would greatly appreciate some guidance on setting up this amp. They have to sound identical to the aforementioned artists, only somewhere near that area. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Run a small amplifier (Like a Pignose) before your main amplifier. Do your adjustments small amplifier, I will give you a great sound, is what the big names.
