Fender MIM Stratocaster OR Epiphone les paul standard?

IM trying to decide weather to get a Made in mexico stratocaster by fender or a epiphone les paul standard. Both cost relatively the same. I like the feel of fender and the smooth clean sound BUT i do not like the 60 cycle hum it gets. on the other hand, i like the humbucking of the les pauls and i like their thick tone for distortion BUT i do not like the feel of them, they are heavy and do not feel nice when playing sitting down. I Pritty much play wanna play all sorts of musics, so im gonna need both distortion and clean sounds.

I looked at both of these also.

I ended up going with the Epiphone LP Standard.

I will probably pick up the MIM eventually as well, though the Epi was a great sounding & great quality guitar for the price.

I got a clearance color on musiciansfriend for around 375 if i remember correctly (this was 2007)
