American vs Mexican

The American Standard Stratocaster is one the best built and nicest guitars any player can acquire. While on other instruments you might get the sense that you might be paying a little too much for the name I think with Fender most don’t feel that way.

The Mexican version of this guitar is also very nice considering its price, it’s one of the very few instruments build in Mexico. And we could say that after noticing how good these Fenders were the only other one followed suit, Martin.

The main differences between the 2 is the finish, the pickups and the trem. The American has a very nice organic nitro cellulose finish while the Mexican has a more utilitarian plastic based one.

The pickups on the American are made on this country as well while the Mexican version has replicas built there. The tremolo system on the American is a very smooth 2 point pivot while the regular standard has the classic 6 screws design.

American vs Deluxe

A while ago Fender released an update to their classic guitar that was one of the most exciting developments in guitar and the history of this instrument, I’m referring to the S1 switch.

With a push button inside the volume knob many new pickup combinations can be achieved that normally many pay extra to get. Like wiring all 3 single coils at the same time or making a humbucker out of the front and back pickups.

The American Deluxe Stratocaster apart form featuring this cool add on also benefits from locking tuners, letting you take advantage of the smoother tremolo and the dots in the fretboard are made of abalone.

American vs American Special

Fender recently released a new American Strat that is a little more affordable than the regular one by modifying the finish and featuring the classic tremolo.
