Can I change necks on my Mexico Fender Stratocaster?

I have a Fender Strat that I love. It’s a Made in Mexico version. I’ve put in Seymour Duncan pickups, other stuff… etc… I enjoy upgrading the guitar a piece at a time as I need it. One really annoying thing, though, is that the neck has only 21 frets. If a solo needs that 22nd fret I’m always getting silly with huge bends on the 21! Can I buy a neck and install it? I am quite handy, do all my own stuff, but I am not sure how putting a new neck on might mess things up. If it’s helpful to anyone, my Strat’s serial is MZ4065610. Can anyone advise me?

It is possible to get a 22 fret neck for this guitar but it has to be a Fender style replacement neck. These type of neck are the same scale length which is very important of the guitar will not play in tune correctly. They usually extend the fret board slightly so that is “sticks out” from the end of the neck. This way you get the extra fret but have not actually changed the dimensions of the neck. There are several companies who specialize in guitar parts like Warmoth and All parts to name a couple. Check the advertisers index on guitar player magazine for more info.
