Can I paint my guitar humbucker pickup?

I have a gorgeous red Mexican HSS Stratocaster. I have a black pickgaurd and I covered the two singles with black covers. The thing is, I could not find any black covers at Guitar Center for the humbucker. It’s white and it sticks out like a sore thumb against all the black.

Can I paint this thing? I know I should cover the magnet dots up, but I need a brand or some guidance–it’s driving me crazy!

Hello! Yes you can, and although you could use pretty much any quality spray can paint like Krylon or Rustoleum, the best choice would be to go to a hobby shop and pick up a can specifically intended for plastic models. Carefully mask off the pickup pole tips and areas surrounding the top surfaces. Use a couple of light coats to ensure coverage, letting each layer dry before applying the next. Let the final coat dry for a full 24 hours before handling, and you should be good to go! Best regards, Dana
