First produced by Jackson Guitars in 1984, Jackson's solo was a model radical for the time that changed the nature of electric guitars. It was a bridge between old and new guitar designs.

As Grover Jackson, founder of the Jackson Guitar Company, was the management of the Charvel Guitar Company produced a series of custom electric guitars for a small group of customers. These guitars were prototypes for what would become the solo guitar and Jackson were genuine custom designs.
