fender squier stratocaster

Many well known guitarists spend a lot of time and energy customising their guitars to get the sound and playability they want. The famous among these guitarists have contributed greatly to the evolution of guitars. That evolution is supported by the manufacturers of guitars who are taking notice of what the stars want and do.
Often before any involvement on the manufacturers part, well known guitarists spend great deals of money, energy and time customising their guitars to their liking so they produce those gorgeous sounds we hear on recordings and in live shows.
Customisations range from the neck set up (e.g, Ritchie Blackmore was known to have ‘scalloped’ out his fingerboard to get smoother bends and faster playing) through to tweaking electronics or, in the case of acoustic guitars, neck size and wood selection are factors in customisation of sound.
Over the years many artists have had “Signature” guitar models developed in conjunction with Guitar manufacturers.
Some have been at the cheaper end of the market, such as the Fender Squier Hank Marvin Stratocaster right up to the high priced models such as the Fender Andy Summers Telecaster and SRV Strat recreations or Gibson’s recent Slash and Billy Gibbons Les Pauls.
David Gilmours famous ‘Black Strat” has been reproduced by Fender under Gilmours watchful eye to include some of his own previously unknown innovations and tweaks. These guitars have been much sought after and become collectible items.
Signature guitars are becoming a nice way to revisit some long forgotten classics. Like the Burns Sonic. now reproduced under the eye of Brian May from Queen as his signature range in conjunction with Burns of London. Lovely to see these guitars back in use and fashionable again.
I suggest that if you have an original old guitar and the signature version is being made. Hold on to the old one and maybe buy the new version so your collection is complete.
