Thinking about playing bass/guitar?

I abusolutly love fall out boy and I just found out that Pete ( their bassist) made his own signature bass and it got bad reviews about some noise when you plug it in to an amp but it also got great reviews. Also is the Peavey MAX 126 a good starter bass amp. The name of the bass is the Squier by Fender Pete Wentz Signature P Bass. So……….. do you think I should get it. I hade to repost cause I put it in the wrong topic.
ELECTRIC BASS NOT BASS OR GUITAR I JUST WANT ANSWERS ABOUT BASSES.

well, I’ll leave the fact that you’re nuts about fall out boy aside, and just give an answer based upon the Pete Wentz signature Squire Bass.

If you want a bass that will make you look cool for a high school talent show, then yes, pete’s bass is alright (most squires right at the $250.00-$300.00 line are not bad at all….all the ones cheaper than that are complete crap).

However, as the one guy above me said, if you’re looking to stick with playing bass (and not just do it as a fad), I’d save and extra $200 to $300 bucks and get a mexican or korean made fender (they make a p-bass and a jazz bass now, with active pickups & the classic look, and which play amazingly, for between $550.00-$600.00).

Basically, you can spend the $279.99 on the pete wentz squire, and you’ll have a cool looking (although I’d say that’s debateable) bass that people will recognize….but it won’t sound great and the electronics will probably all go to hell on you in two years or less, or you can get a kor/mex fender bass, which will cost double the money but you have a bass that’s at least 4x better. And it’ll last. And it will have at least some re-sale value if you take care of it. And any bass (even a $70.00 crap-o bass) will be perfectly able to handle fall out boy songs….
