Fender or Squire strat?

Ok the question is slightly more complicated. I have a squire strat that I’ve done some work on – all the wiring has been replaced including the pots and jack and the pickups have been switched with the hot noiseless fender pickups (jeff beck series). Upon messing with the guitar, I discovered a crack in the neck. On a budget of about $150 – $200 would it be better to buy a fender neck and put it on the squire body, or wait a few months til the summer job hits and blow out all my money on a fender strat (probably would be a MIM)? Like will there really be that much tonal difference from the squire body or not?

I would wait.

An American Fender Strat is worth the money. Yes, its >$1000.00, but you get what you pay for.

I would then take it to a luther and have the neck professionally set. It’s expensive, but you will not regret it. Make sure they use locking bolts in place of screws. Some do and some don’t. The luthers that know to use them are top notch.
