Whats the difference between a Fender Vintage ’62 Jazz Bass and Fender ’62 Reissue Jazz Bass?

I was looking for a nice light bass, and the ’62 Jazz Bass seemed just fine.

What’s the difference between the Fender Vintage ’62 Jazz Bass and Fender ’62 Reissue Jazz Bass? They are both Fender-Japan, by the way.

Looks like this.

Technically, both products should be nearly identical when it comes to playability. The “vintage” is purposefully “beat up” to look like a pawn shop treasure. The factory actually takes a new guitar and beats it up in order to look “vintage”. A “re-issue” is a copy of an old style guitar which is brand new in looks, but has the same features of the original guitar made in the early 60s or whenever. The “vintage” might have hand wound pickups, but I’m not sure.

Play on both to find the one that works better for yourself. That’s the important issue. I like new looking stuff when I pay for it, but if the “vintage” seems to get it done, by all means go that route…

That’s the way i like it by KC & the sunshine band bassline by Rino Conteduca with fender jazz bass 62 reissue
