I am going to be buying a new bass, do you recommend a 4 or 5 string?

I currently play a 4 string but am afraid that the 5 string necks would be too thick. i currently play a Fender Jazz bass

well the 4 string is the norm but you get more sonic possiblities with a 5 or 6 string. plus they look wayyy cooler.
