What do you think about the Fender Standard Start HSS?

I'm looking to get a new guitar, my cousin now is a (POS Squier start of a packet Start-_-). It sucks to keep tone, D, G, B and chains rattle in the bridge, the cat is loose, and I hate the single coil pickups hum. I have no neither the knowledge nor the patience to fix these things, even if it did, it would not be worth it in a Squier $ 100-150. So the beginning of FSS is fine for me. I originally considered the beginning HH, but it is too expensive (HSS – $ 400, HH – $ 950), and I do not really need 2 humbuckers. I mostly play punk and heavier things, and I have a BOSS Metal Zone pedal. I was thinking of getting it in Electron Blue with a maple fingerboard. I also heard that Mexican Strats are better quality than American Strats. Is this true?
