Which Fender guitar should I buy?

I'm getting a Fender electric guitar for the holidays, but I can not decide which model choose. Should I get a Fender Stratocaster Vintage Hot Rod '57 Stratocaster or Eric Clapton? I love playing tones ranging from classic to metal.

Fender American and Mexican models … those in the American Strats are better quality and better sound .. are also more expensive, but make sure you're getting a U.S. one. The EC has started almost a blues feel and sound to it if that helps! Are you stuck in a Fender? Gibson SG (if you get a rustic wood stain that would be around 699.) It is a great guitarist … They are used in everything from country to metal (Toni Iommi was one).
