Does the finish on a Fender Highway 1 Telecaster wear very quickly?

I’ve been looking at a Fender Highway One Telecaster to replace the American Standard which I (stupidly) sold when I was broke a few years ago. The Highway One is a lovely guitar – just one thing bothers me. The transparent wine coloured Nitrocellulose finish looks very thin. I’ve seen some posts on some web forums suggesting that the finish on the new Highway Ones is now more robust than it used to be, but still…Does anyone know if it wears through quickly? I’m kind of vain about my guitars and handle them quite gently- but I don’t want it to look like an old beater within a few years of buying it. Thanks.
