Good heavy metal tone on guitar?

I need help getting a good metal tone. An example of what I’m looking for might be something like Alice Cooper ‘s guitar players on “Cold Ethyl”, and some Motley Crue and WASP type stuff. All the tones I am getting are either too fat, have too little distortion, or are too thin.

Go out and buy a Jackson or Ibanez guitar with EMG pickups, or get either a Crate or Line 6 amp. I assume your fender has 3 single coil pickups? If so you will never get a true metal sound.
