Stratocaster fender guitar tremolo help?

Hello. I am new to electric guitar right now and am still a begginer so maybe the problem is because of me but anyway. I bought a fender stratocaster about a week ago and when I put my wammy bar on the guitar it would screw in very nicely and freely. I took it off and put it on the next day and when I was about half way down screwing it in it wouldn’t go all the way in I have to force it in know and I’m am afraid it will break. I need help thank you

Hello! Fender Stratocasters with the screw-in tremolo bar usually have a small coil spring at the bottom of the threaded hole (see http://angela.com/stratamericanseriestremoloarmspringsonedozen.aspx , for an example). Probably what happened is that the spring shifted slightly upwards from handling the guitar without the bar, and prevented you from completely screwing the tremolo bar into place. Just make sure the spring is fully bottomed out in the threaded hole before screwing in the bar, and do not over-tighten; it is always a good idea to regularly use a little silicone lubricant on the threads to prevent galling. Best regards, Dana
