fender guitar serial number look up

How much is my guitar worth ? (update)?
I posted an earlier question asking “How much is my guitar worth” ? I know zero about guitars. (It was passed down to me by an uncle). A friend told me it’s a Fender Mustang from the 1960′s. Well, he got the brand and decade right, but not the model. I recently noticed up by where you tune the strings it says in small, somewhat faded lettering ” Music Master II “, not “Mustang”. I also tried looking for a serial number to get a better idea of exactly when it was made, but couldn’t find one anywhere, just the number 151750 on the metal plate on the back of the guitar that screws down and secures the neck to the rest of the guitar. It’s in ok condition with a few nicks and scratches here and there, but everything on it looks original except for the strings. It’s just sitting up not being used and I don’t have any need for it really. Anyone have an idea what I should ask for this guitar if I decide to sell it ?
According to Wikipedia, there is a good reason for the confusion between the Musicmaster and the Mustang guitars.
Quoting from the Wiki posting:
“In 1964, following the release of the Fender Mustang, both the Musicmaster and Duo-Sonic were redesigned using the Mustang necks and body. This body was larger and slightly offset, and was fitted with a plastic pickguard but with the volume and tone controls mounted on a separate metal plate; The necks had larger headstocks. All three models were offered with the option of a 24 inch scale 22 fret neck or a 22.5 inch scale 21 fret neck with the choice of “round-lam” rosewood or maple fingerboard. The 24 inch scale proved by far the most popular of these options. The redesigned Musicmaster was named the Musicmaster II and its stablemate the Duo-Sonic II, both using the Bronco body and pickguard shapes, although decals with and without the II designation were used without any real meaning.”

There is enough of a range, if I were you, and wanted to sell it, I would put it on eBay with a reserve for the lowest price I would take, and let the bidders determine if it is worth more.
Another way to get a trustworthy value is to take it to a luthier and have him appraise it for you. might cost you $50 or so, but you would have a better idea as to the real value so someone who knows what it is worth is less likely to low ball you in trying to buy it. Check with Guitar Center for a Luthier near you.
