I’m thinking it’s time for a semi hollow body guitar to add to my blues/jazz collection.?

I already have an American Strat and a Fender Blues Junior and a WONDERFUL Ibanez Tube Screamer Pedal. All set up so perfect it makes me cry its so great. But, I want that tone now of that good ol’ BB King sound. I’m not spending 2-4 grand on an ES though. What are some decent semi hollow body guitars, I can always change the pickups. I’m thinking about going with maybe an Ibanez Semi Hollow, maybe a Gretsch?? I would probably put some 57 Humbuckers in it or some P90′s Humbuckers. Would that be good enough do you think? Or is it like trying to put cologne on crap? Just cant cover it up?? Know what I mean??

First thing I’d do is look at Yamaha archtops. They aren’t as expensive as Gibsons, and the quality is comparable:

Next, I’d consider the Epi Sheraton II (ES-335 knockoff) and its “Lucille” version:
