How I can improve my game under skills / techniques / etc basics?!?

I decided to accept the low a few months ago 6-7. never played before. I've been playing guitar for over 6 years, but rarely play. rather than signing up for a class of low, what practices are large or tips to help me help myself. ive been playing cards of my favorite songs and such, but I doubt they do much, apart from other copies. Ive got a Fender Jazz fretless. I did not know at the time of purchase but I hear its much more difficult to play fretless? any help is greatly appreciated.

If you've been playing guitar for a while and have a basis in theory, then you have a head start. Remember that the bass is a totally different instrument, is just a guitar with 2 strings off. Bass is the connection between percussion instruments (right hand) and tonal instruments (left hand). Some things should work on: 1. MAD develop a sense of time by using a metronome with the sound off, start playing and looking the other way, then look ago. 2. Know the value of space or leave notes out. For example, 16th notes: play at a comfortable pace and leaving aside the practice of the first note then the second and then the third … within a measure. 3. If you've played the guitar chords are certainly used to playing "forms." That is, laying his fingers on the neck. As a bassist, you need to know the structure of a chord and all notes of the chord. Reproduction other than the root adds a lot of texture if you choose correctly. 4. Know your scales (major, all minors, and as many ways as you can). Practice them as far up the neck as possible. That is, do not stop at footnote 8 of the scale. Fretless is more difficult than fretted. Why? A note is created when "change" the distance between the bridge and fingers. That is, the above the neck you go, the chain less you have to vibrate faster and vibrates, creating a sharper note. Frets create a certain "mechanical" distance, thus making the constant note. In a fretless instrument, a laminate of your finger can change the tone of what you're playing. Fretless players practice position of the fingers, intonation call, for years to make this as accurate as possible. I would suggest switching to dish a little unless there is a reason why incineration or the wish that the characteristic sound of a fretless ha. ActiveBass is an awesome website for all kinds of things, especially the scales and chords. Adam Nitti is a great teacher and has some online lessons help.
