fender fm series
Marshall mg30dfx or fender fm 25 dsp?

i wish i could own a marshall but the mg series have been heavily criticized for having a cheap sound. on the other hand the frontman is considered as a good amp and is slightly cheaper. wonder if you guys can help me choose the right one.. i thank you in advance

Fender Frontmans (in my opinion) suck, too. You can’t really get a nice distortion out of one.
It also depends on WHO is criticizing the marshall for a cheap sound.
If it’s snobs on here, then I wouldn’t listen too much to that.
There are lots of people on here that if it’s not a “real Gibson” or “real” Fender Strat or a Marshall 100 watt stack “it sucks”.
That’s just not so.

(frontmans do suck though!)

I’d definitely take the marshall over the frontman. It could be that the effects are what are “cheap sounding” on the marshall, too, but the regular guitar sound is OK…IDK

If you can, you need to take your own guitar down to the store and plug it in to both and see which one you like better. to heck with what others say…it’s your guitar, your sound….make your own sound and F*** them. ya know?

That being said. If I were you, I’d check out the Line 6 spider amps.
I got a little 15 watt spider practice amp. In a side by side test, that little amp beat the comparable marshall. fender, roland, orange, pignose…every other practice amp in the store. Best distortion and sound and the best effects too. (at least to my ears and taste)

But if you can’t check them out I’d buy the marshall for sure.
Or the line 6 spider III 30 is only $199, and has a good sound.
I’ve been seeing a lot of others on here also recommending line 6 products so it’s not just me who likes ‘em.
