I want a beginner’s guitar. Should I get a DG-8S Acoustic Guitar Value Pack or Yamaha GigMaker Guitar Pack

They sell both guitars at Guitar Center. The fender has a solid wood front & the Yamaha doesn’t. Still one of my friends who is a musician thinks the Yamaha has a brighter sound. What do you think?

Solid tops almost always sound better. You might rather base your decision on where you might be taking the guitar, and realistically how you will care for it. A laminate top is better for camping, being left out of the case, etc. A solid top guitar needs a little more care.
But really, when it comes down to it, just get whichever one YOU like best.
By the way, the there is a deluxe version of the Yamaha that is a solid top, and just a few bucks more.
