Fender Telecaster or Epiphone Les Paul?

Okay, so I’m saving up for a pretty nice electric guitar to play in my youth praise band and for the future if my plans of starting a band come true. Our genre varies alot from Contemporary Christian to Christian Rock. In other words, we play anything from David Crowder to Switchfoot and Third Day to Kutless. Went to Guitar Center and played a Fender Standard Telecaster that sounded great clean and really good distorted. Right now I’m just playing a Rogue by Squire Stratocaster copy. So what are your opinions?

My effects: Digitech RP300 (With my own custom settings).

Strange question! Telecasters and Les Pauls are very different. However, if you want to campare, I believe that Les Pauls are more flexible to play several styles, because an Epi have more timbres available on the same gig. The sound of an Epi LP tends to smooth, warm, wooden sound, but can sounds vintage on a bridge pickup, while a Tele tends to sound more metalic, because of your singlecoil pickups. By other hand, your own timbre can be produced by your amplifier, effects and the way you use and set this.
