Why does the B-String on my Strat keep popping out?!?

I recently bought a MIM Fender Classic Player ’60s Stratocaster online. So far its been an excellent guitar, the only problem its really been having is when I bend on the lower frets of the B-String, the string pops out of the nut!

What would be the best method of fixing this??

Hi! For some (probably aesthetic) reason, Fender decided not to equip the Classic Player ‘60s Stratocaster with a string tree, which is the reason your B-string jumps out of the nut during heavy bending. The standard string trees are just a contoured piece of thin sheet metal, and I hate them! I tried taking mine off completely, but once in awhile a string would pop out of the nut slot, which (as you know) really sucks big time during a performance! In the end, I found some “roller” string tees (see http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Hardware,_parts/Electric_guitar:_String_trees_retainers/Roller_String_Retainers_for_Guitar.html and http://www.guitarpartsonline.com/product_info.php?cPath=34&products_id=242 for examples) that worked flawlessly, plus looked pretty cool. Just add one to your headstock, and both your B and E-strings will stay put! Best regards, Dana
