fender bass mexico

Fender precision bass question?
Is there any way to tell what kind of wood a fretboard is? I think the precision bass comes standard with either maple or rosewood. I bought a used one and am trying to figure it out so I don’t use the wrong cleaner on the board. This was also made in mexico and is not the American standard.
If the neck is the original one, than it’s easy to tell what the fretboard is. If the fretboard is yellowish in color, then it’s maple. If it is a dark reddish-brown or brown color, then it’s rosewood. As for cleaner, I have used 3 in 1 oil for the past 20+ years on all my guitars, and it works just fine. Just remember to wipe the oil off with a dry rag after you apply it, and, while you’re applying oil to the fretboard, oil the back of the neck too. You’ll be amazed at what a difference that makes.
Hope this helps
