fender bass guitar amps
how many watts for bass amplifier for this situation?

i have a two 100w amp which is used by rhythm and lead guitarist.. i have a drum kit but i dont have a bass. i’m planning to buy a bass guitar but i have doubts for the amp…i usually jam with my band and use my 100w amp volume up to around 4(not that loud but not that slow either)..so my other guitarist also crank it up to volume 4 and we play it with my drummer..so i want to know how many watts for a bass amp i should get?(enough so that it can be heard/compete with my guitar amps)..i dont want to get 100w bcoz its not around my budget and i dont use it that loud anyway..

any suggestion? will 50w do? or less or more?

and any good brand?

(in case ur wondering, both of my guitar amps are fender frontman 212r)

thanx in advance

Thats a good question. I’ve been playing Bass since 1978 but have only had two Amps. I think my first was a 200w Crate and the one I have now is a 350w Hartke that I play through two Ampeg Cabinets. 2 10s on top and an 18 on the bottom. I’ve played Bars and wedding halls without ever having to turn the volume up past 1 1/2 to 2. If I cranked it up to 4 I could shatter every window in my house.
I have a one unit practice Amp (it’s an old tube amp) but it doesn’t say how many watts it is. It’s great for jamming with a couple of guitarists but can’t overpower a drum kit.
I’d go with your Drummer down to a music store and try out different Amps to see which will give you enough volume.
I am a huge fan of Hartke when it comes to bass guitars.
If you find the right wattage at a music store you might want to check out pawn shops and save yourself some money.
