Need some professional music help?

Okay i hope someone who has had experiance in playing gigs can help me?
My band done a gig the other night, but they said the singers microphone was muffled n sounded like it had a distortions on it.
Our set up is, i’m on the drums, the guitarist has his own marshal amp, and the other guitarist has a fender amp. the singer is going through a crate amp head to PA speakers, so i think the problem is that hes going through a guitar amp but Hes a singer. so can someone recommend what i do? invest in a PA amp? if so can you please recommend where to buy, we don’t have a lot of money. if not can someone give me hint on how to optimize the amp for his voice?
future thanks for anyone who helps me….thank you.

You need a proper PA amp. Peavey do some nice mixer amps. If you are doing small pub gigs you’ll probably get away with 400 watts or so. Should cost around £300 for the amp. Do a bit of internet browsing to see what’s available. You can get some good bargains of Ebay.
